General Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting transactions and maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records.
• Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and reconcile accounts payable/receivable.​
• Compute taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure timely payments.
• Audit financial transactions and documents to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare budget forecasts and assist management in financial planning and decision-making.
• Comply with all financial policies, local regulations, and accounting standards.

Required Skills

Hard Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP tools).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), financial statements, and tax laws.​
• Data analysis and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and financial modeling.​

Soft Skills:

• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling numbers and financial records.​
• Analytical thinking to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.​
• Communication skills to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Integrity and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial information.​

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree (MBA or MSc Accounting) is often preferred for senior roles.​
• Experience: 1–3 years for junior roles; 3–5+ years for senior or managerial positions.​
• Certifications: Professional certifications are highly valued and often required, including:
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) — most recognized globally
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant) — focused on management accounting
  • ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) — widely recognized internationally
